I know my writing has been less than steady lately, and I wanted to give you guys a head's up as to what's happening.
Right around Thanksgiving we received some rather scary news about my mom. Some of you know that my dad passed away from cancer about 7 years ago now...well, looks like the fates decided that our family would get one more challenge. Mom has Stage 4 colon cancer that's moved into her lungs.
Thankfully my mom's a fighter, and we're looking at our options. Thursday night we had a terrible scare with a seizure. As if the colon and lungs weren't bad enough, the mets have now moved into her brain. Right now, the only option we have is to fight the brain tumors-yes, multiples-and see where we go from there.
I'm not posting for sympathy, though I will take prayers from anywhere I can. But writing is and will always continue to be an outlet for me. With all that's happening, it just might not be a very steady outlet. I know you guys will understand, but I did want to at least give you a head's up as to why I'm absent from time to time.

Oh Tara, I am so sorry. Of course the most important thing right now is your mom, and I am sending thoughts and prayers her way as hard as I can. I hope she is able to fight that terrible disease, and you can find the strength to be there for her and deal with this obstacle bravely. Keep the faith, and keep us posted!
Thanks so much for letting us know. I had thought that something must be wrong. Your mother has my prayers and you too. I know there is alot of stress on the care givers. My brother has colon cancer and it's puts a strain on everyone. We travel back and forth to Florida (I'm in GA) for surgeries, check ups, etc. Thanks for what you do.
I´m so sorry to hear that Tara!
Of course you and your mom are in my thoughts.
You´ll need all your strenght and faith...
It´s just horrible to start the new year this way...
hugs

Thanks everyone. It is a very tough time in the household--and yes, as a caregiver there's a lot of stress...so says my ass that's expanding. Ugh.
But we're all getting on a really good diet in the household to get us ready for the fight that will follow.
And no, not exactly how I wanted to start out the next decade. *sigh* I'll keep everyone updated as I can.
Thank you for the prayers...and the good thoughts.
Tara
My prayers are with you and your family. Just know that you have friends out here that care.
Just to let you know that I love the stories you write and will be watching for updates if and when you can no matter how long. Family is the most important thing.
Love and prayers.
Oh Tara thinking of you and your mom and keeping you both in my prayers. (((HUGS)))
Tara, you know I'm a phone call away, any time you need. You know all that I've faced with my loved ones and that awful disease too. {{{HUGS}}} to you and your mom and family. My best always.
Tara I am so sorry to hear about your family. I just got done with my mom having surgery last week for breast cancer. I will keep your family in my prayers. You are a great writer, but your family need you & that is more important! Let us know how things are going. A lot of fans care about you!!!!

Tara - I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I will definitely keep you all in my prayers. Take it from one who has survived two brain tumors, faith & a fighting attitude are key to surviving. Never give up, they can do amazing things these days.
Take care of yourself through all of it ok.
